Black and White

Colors make sense.  It gives a picture of what we want to express.  It may interpret the state of our life.  For what you see is what you perceive.  And what you perceive is what you comprehend.  So whatever color you are into… know that it is the SHADE OF YOUR LIFE.  You wear it and you give discernment to people.  You have the ability to put a hue and you have the choice to select one.

And for now… I choose BLACK and WHITE.  Black for dullness and white for optimism.  I want to balance life from this moment.  I don’t want to be stuck into something that is uncertain.  People around me give me doubt… but the Lord, my God, gives me hope.

As it is written:

30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;       31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

– Isaiah 40:30-31

Hope in the Sunset

Looking at the setting of the sun makes my time worth spending… that I manage to hope for the best even if it’s almost the end of the day.

My Quiet Time on LOVE… One and a Half Year Ago

1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”

— 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

Love is not a feeling, love is a character.  In everything we do, we must love what we’re doing. We have to love what we’re doing so we can express the sincerity and reality of our actions.  Or we could be like this pencil that can’t complete the heart because it’s broken.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

– 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is patient, love is kind.  Love is gentle.  It takes time to love ‘coz it is patient.  Love doesn’t involve bad things ‘coz it is kind.  It does not envy because it is always fair.  Walang kinakampihan ang tunay na pagmamahal.  Walang kinaiinggitan ang tunay na pagmamahal.  It does not boast. When you love someone, be still with it.  You don’t have to prove it, you just have to show it or express it.  Love is not proud.  It is humble.  Pride doesn’t portray love.  When you love, you must humble yourself.  Give way, let go and let it be.  Love is not rude.  It can’t be love if you are hurting.  Love can’t be undeveloped because it should be full-grown and mature.  Love is not self-seeking.  It is not selfish.  You can’t call it love if it’s you who wants this and that for someone.  It does not seek your own interest but the interest of others.  When you love, it is not just you who wants to rule but anyone, everyone wants to rule.  So, love is a character of anyone who wants to rule and be-ruled.  It seeks the interest of one another.  It is fair and just.  Love is not easily-angered.  It is calm and must be controlled. So when we love, we must not complain, because loving bears a lot of trials and pain, pero part yun ng pagmamahal so we have to lengthen our patience para hindi tayo unahan ng galit kahit sa konti o malaking pagkakamali.  Love doesn’t keep record of wrongs. We must not condemned anyone to the sins he have done, we must forgive and give them the chance to change. Kung talagang mahal natin ang isang tao, we will always give them the chance to change, and forgive, if possible, to forget.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  Love is never pleased with the evil things.  Love can’t be joyous when it sees bad things around because love is right when it’s in the truth.  Love is always true, it never lies.  Love always wants the truth.  We should never fool anyone from our lies.  Masamang manloko lalo na sa pagmamahal.  Marami ang masasaktan.  Love always protects. Love always perseveres.  Hindi ito sumusuko.  God blesses those who persevere.  He loves persistent people.  Love is persistent, it is continuous and it never stops.  Love is always there even if there are a lot of troubles or difficulties.  Love always exists whenever or wherever you are, it can’t be gone.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”

– 1 Corinthians 13:8-12

Love never fails.  Love always wins.  If your love is true, you will never fail.  Your love will never be broken and it will stay forever.  Ang pagmamahal ay hindi kailanman babagsak as long as it’s in the right path.  Walang makakasira sa tunay na pagmamahal.  If there are predictions, it will cease.  If there are tongues or gossips, they will be stilled or silenced.  If there is knowledge, it will just pass away.  Love is not about predictions, gossips or even knowledge.  If it’s about these things then you’re talking about imperfect love.  We know that when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.  And as we know what “TRUE LOVE” is… we must put away all the wrong things we once thought about love.  Huwag na nating ipagpilitan ang akala nating kahulugan ng pagmamahal, we have to believe and take these things into practice and share it to all the people we love.  Even as we know in part, then we should know fully.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

– 1 Corinthians 13:13

Among the three: faith, hope and love… the greatest is LOVE.  And that doesn’t require an explanation.  We knew it in our own heart, mind and soul.  It is within us and it will always be present on our lives.

Let’s Follow the LEADER*

Being a Christian isn’t about making a weekly trip to church. We need to develop the character of God so others can actually see Jesus working in a practical way.

Ephesians 5:1 says that we are to be imitators of God.  Unfortunately, saying it is a lot easier than actually doing it.  So many times we do things that don’t reflect God at all.  It’s easy to get discouraged, give up on and condemn ourselves when we fall short.  Thankfully, God isn’t bothered that we haven’t arrived yet.  He knows we’re only human.  He knows that we’re not going to instantly, perfectlymirror Him overnight, but He does want us to continue growing.

We’re not meant to live stagnant lives, never moving forward in our faith.  Where’s the adventure in that?  We need to be able to look back on our life and see some changes taking place.

I used to be a Pharisee. I think I could have been the chief of Pharisees. I had a real religious act going on, but I wasn’t really doing anything to truly “imitate” God.  At some point, God led me to ask myself: “What am I doing to be more like God? Am I actually helping anybody?  Am I just in this thing so God will make my life better?”

When we’re in a place of questioning, that’s the best place to be.  It’s a place of constantly striving toward being more like Christ.  As you’re striving, don’t fall into the trap of perfectionism and self-condemnation.  We all make mistakes but the important thing is to be willing to take steps every day toward being more like God.

Pray: God, I thank You that even though You see my mistakes, You still love me and help me live a godly life.  While I refuse to be discouraged by my failures, I also refuse to stay the same. I choose to follow You & imitate You more and more each day.

❝ Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. ❞
(Ephesians 5:1)

Know Life As It Is

Life as we know it is simple yet full of challenges.  And the standing of our life depends on how we face those challenges.  But enough of these common connotations about life; let’s focus on the real one…

Life as we experience it is so magical, very colorful.  But as we move towards our maximum point, it becomes disenchanted, very pale.  We missed the thrill and now we’re missing our old life.  So what do we do know??  We change our ways, trying to explore things that we aren’t used to be.  If we are used to be with friends all the time, we choose to be alone.  If we are used to talk to someone special every night, we choose to talk to someone we don’t know fully.  If we are used to surf the net all day, we still choose to do it but we try different sites not minding where it could lead us.  See how life gets so complicated because of your own choices??

Think of something you want in life…

(Okay!  You don’t have to enumerate it; I just want you to think of it.)

Now, what have you done to make it happen??

(Don’t say you haven’t done anything, for I know you have done a lot but when you’re in the middle of achieving it, you lose focus and so you end up not doing it.)

So, do the people around you affect your life??

(Of course, your answer would be “YES, everyone does,” but I think your wrong.  It was us.  It is always us who affect our own lives.  It’s because of our choices.  We wouldn’t be with these people if we didn’t choose to hang out with them.  We have our choices all the time.  And yes… back to the common connotation of life, “Life is about making choices.”  But to all life’s connotations, this one really makes sense.  And this one makes the world go round.  Why, because it’s hard to blame ourselves, when something goes wrong.  We look at the people around us as if they committed the most brutal crime that had just happened to us.)

So, after blaming them, we heard their side and we realize that we have just hurt them.  So where do we take the blame… yes, ourselves.  Imagine how you harm someone’s life and just end up blaming yourself??  We need to stop and think first before we act.  People nowadays are very sensitive even though they’re saying that “it’s ok,” it wasn’t really that okay.  We are great pretender just to show how strong we are on the outside but deep inside, it’s killing us.

So this is life, we enjoy, then we get tired, so we take a rest, decide to unwind, explore, then realized that we’re disconnected, so we get back to the way we used to live.  We have to learn on how to take our choices into reality.  Choose wisely and live well.

In all ways.. God gives us free will.

“The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;
but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.

— Genesis 2:15-17

He is letting us to experience everything in this world, His creation, but He’s warning us not to be on something that is forbidden for we it could bring harm to us.  But then again… HE GIVES US FREE WILL.  And it would ALWAYS be our choice.  So it’s up to you…  to live with your own decisions.
